COVID-19 has had an enormous human impact around the world. Our hearts go out to all who’ve been affected by the pandemic. We also understand that people with sleep apnea are at an elevated risk from the disease, so we’re committed to taking extra precautions to help prevent the spread of the virus. We do this for the well-being of our clients, patients, and our team, as well as the brave men and women providing front-line medical care for COVID-19 patients.

Ozone Sanitation & Disinfection

We sanitize our home sleep testing devices with Airthereal Ozone Generators upon return and again before shipping to our patients’ homes for optimal sanitation and safety. This SGS-tested technology has been shown to kill at least 99.98% of bacteria. Ozone sterilization is effective against coronaviruses like the one that causes COVID-19. Ozone is highly energetic and unstable. It attacks the virus at a molecular level, breaking it down.

14-Point Inspection and Sanitation

As leaders in the delivery of home sleep tests, we strive to establish and maintain the most effective protocols for ensuring the function and safety of our devices. We have always used a 14-point inspection and sanitation protocol with all of our devices.

This includes the use of a high-grade medical sanitation solution that has been on the CDC’s “List N” since March 13, 2020. When combined with the use of ozone sterilization and smart handling practices, this dramatically reduces the risk of infection for our patients, clients, and staff.

How Long Coronavirus Can Live on Surfaces

According to the best research, it seems that the coronavirus which causes COVID-19 could live on the materials used in sleep tests, such as plastic, for as long as three days. This would create a risk of exposure if we did not take such careful steps to reduce or eliminate the presence of the virus on all our equipment.

However, there is little risk from handling the shipping boxes. Coronavirus can only live for a short time on these surfaces, so receiving a package presents little risk. And you can handle the home sleep test with confidence because of the thorough disinfection procedures we follow, as noted above.

Turnaround Time Might Be Impacted

Because we cannot verify proper sanitation of our sleep tests before they enter our office, we make sure to sanitize the devices before our staff handles them. We do this by allowing returned testing devices to stay overnight with our Airthereal Ozone Generators.

This additional safety precaution might impact the turnaround time of interpreting results and sending reports to referring doctors. However, we continue to do everything in our power to keep the turnaround time as close as possible to the 1-2-day window we achieve during optimal conditions.
